Visual Culture Working Group

This working group focuses on artistic and cultural studies in visual media and communication from the critical view point. Cinema, Audiovisual and Arts, as well as Sociocultural and Technological Studies will be welcome. Researches within cultural studies will enhance the communication field and are relevant to be presented in the international IAMCR Conference, which includes participants of 70 countries.

Analysis of cultural aspects of diverse communities in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and North America would contribute to diversifying the field of communication studies. Studies about evolution of visual aspects and of digital media are relevant to emphasize history and memory.  Comparative studies of cultural identity in a region, which maybe resisting mainstream global media flows, would be welcome for visual media scholars who are searching for cultural identity in their parts of the world. Cultural research on visual media including film, audiovisual, television and multimedia would contribute to take into consideration many points of view that represent our contemporary world.
