The celebration will be recorded and presented as a special session during IAMCR 2022.
Eight years ago, IAMCR and the global publisher Palgrave Macmillan started the series Global Transformations in Media and Communication Research, founded and co-edited by Marjan de Bruin and Claudia Padovani. With an enthusiastic and always responding Advisory Board as support, the IAMCR/Palgrave series developed Global Transformations in Media and Communication Research into a very successful set of books. The series developed rapidly and currently has produced 17 books while four new books are in pipeline. Reasons for celebration!
This year, the founding co-editors will step down from the job and two new series’ editors–with passion and anticipation – will take over the demanding tasks that come with coeditorship.
The series Global Transformations in Media and Communication Research would not have become what it currently is, without the many contributors whose multiple voices found a ‘home’ in the series; whose minds created the innovative topics that the series has become known for. It would not have had its success without the long standing commitment of the series’ co-editors.
Over the years, at every face-to-face IAMCR Conference, the co-editors, together with Palgrave’s representatives, organised a small coming together with actual and potential writers and readers of the series. This year we would like to host an online version of those meetings, in a celebratory mood.
This coming together online – a two hours synchronous session on July 5,between 14.00 and 16.00 CEST - is open to the entire IAMCR constituency, carrying a celebrative and more informal tone. A moment to show the depth and insights which the series has built up over the years; and a moment to think about new ideas for the future.
Editors and authors who, over the years, contributed to building the reputation and success of the series are invited to participate and share their experiences in publishing within IAMCR/Palgrave series. Members of the series’ Advisory Board as well as IAMCR’s past and current Presidents will join in celebrating. And at the end of the session, Marjan and Claudia will officially hand over the co-editorial role to the newly appointed IAMCR/Palgrave series editors.
